Lists Of Bests should allow definitive lists to be locked once they're complete 1 cheer

Okay, this is something that’s been driving me nuts for a while…

On Lists of Bests, I made a list of Hitchcock’s films. The Mountain Eagle has been lost for decades, but I included it in my version. People – well, mostly just one person, actually – keep deleting it from the list even though I’ve asked them not to.

There’s another list that doesn’t include it, and I’ve even linked to that one on my list, hoping people who are going for completion will add it instead, but no such luck.

It would be great if I could “lock” the list, so no one could make any more changes.

Obviously this wouldn’t work for things like Best Picture winners, but given that Hitch is dead, I don’t think there’s any danger of the list needing updating.

Should do this

This is a good idea, but it’s also true that there are different types of definitive lists. Your Hitchcock example is an “absolute definitive list”, where as the Best Picture winners list is continuously growing, or a “relative definitive list”. Maybe having either a lock/unlock option, or a vote by users who have the list to regulate whether it should be locked would solve that problem?
