facebook should launch a 43things app

Facebook has methods of finding people based on location, interests… It does not have a way of finding other people trying to get things done.

43things, I think, would fit that niche perfectly.

Should do this

Your idea of search is quite interesting… and they will maybe do.
In the meantime, I have done a couple of simple facebook apps for bringing 43things and 43places inside Facebook:

my43things: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?api_key=481ca08c0cea9f311c9ad5a11b0e925b

my43places: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?api_key=36bb682b64617bdea356ccf400c0d6d4

they basically display your goals and places from 43T/P inside of your profile in facebook.

not a lot, but it is a starter…

I know that does a good job of displaying info, but I have the same problem with that set-up of yours as I do with things like the Digg application.

When I add an app to Facebook, I don’t add it to show other people. I add it because I love being able to integrate people I know in real life with services I might not otherwise use. A Robot Coop full integration of Facebook is what I could really use, not just a set of lists. I probably wouldn’t even use the boxes on my profile.

In my mind, a good Facebook app would be able to do the following things:

1) Let users access the site functionality from within Facebook.

2) Let users keep in track with their FACEBOOK friends as they use the system. (In other words, a 43things app would show friends’ goals, an All Consuming app would show friends’ commentary on items consumed, etc.)

3) Update a Facebook feed with pertinent info. Facebook’s strength is that it has a powerful in-place network. Any good app would take advantage of that and use it as such.

Should do this

I agree with you.
Those two simple apps are just a “start”. A simple thing that could be done to begin integrating the two world. Of course they are nowhere close to be complete.
just to start, I tried to keep the functionality to a minimum.I don’t store ANY data at the moment, I just get the list for that username and push it to his/her profile.

This serves at least the MINIMAL purpose of knowing WHO is WHO on the two networks.
Showing your 43P/T data into your profile on Facebook lets people figure out who their FB friends are on 43P/T….

I have added a simple support for your point 3 – that is when you refresh the list the mini-feed gets updated. Nothing fancy, but it is a start…

1 and 2 would take considerable more time.
See if I get that time… :-)
