City of Seattle should not tear down the Viaduct

The Viaduct allows the general public the most awesome view of the city’s skyline driving northbound. It’s totally unmatchable, and it’s free.

Should do this

Eh, I’ve never noticed the view from the Viaduct. How about Alki? You can get there without driving, and even sit and enjoy theview for more than 5 seconds.

No opinion

Perhaps we should build highways in front of all scenic areas? We could ring Mount Rainier with a double decker highway for instance. Consider the view!

You can get the same view you get on the viaduct by going to Victor Steinbruck Park by getting out of your car. Plus then you are not going 50 miles an hour, and can turn around and enjoy the rest of the Pike Place Market. It is far more enjoyable than being on a highway if you are trying to take in the sites of Seattle.

The fact of the matter is the viaduct is at the end of its life. We’ll need to rebuild it or tear it down. Personally, I think the view of the waterfront would be a lot better without a highway on it. We have a world class waterfront setting here in Seattle. With a dangerous and decrepit highway on top of it. Time to see some leadership before we have a tragedy on that death-trap.
