And when I called the Dell helpline and entered the PC number they said to have my credit card number ready because it was no longer under warranty…..IT IS ONLY 6 months old…ancient in computer years but still….

you can buy an extended warranty when you buy the computer.
Or buy a mac, you get a 1 year warranty included free.
