All Consuming should have only one version of each movie (like imdb)

If the only problem here is the links to Amazon.com, why not present the user with a multiple product list (like you would receive on a search) when the click the link? It would make listofbests a lot better, too, if there was only one version of movie and book, because as it is now, you may have one marked on a list, only to find it’s ‘unconsumed’ on another list.

Should do this

I totally agree. People that watched the same movie (even if different versions: Criterion, Original, Director’s Cut) have similar impressions of the work, so it should be categorized in the same entry.

There are two solution I see:

1. Ask Amazon.com to give their database between IMDB.com film IDs and Amazon.com ASIN. Since it’s to their advantage (people looking for a budget version of the film that stumble upon Criterion’s version can find what they are looking for and viceversa) I don’t see why should they refuse.

2. Ask the users of allconsuming.net to enter the IMDB ID of the film. Then you can automatically find all versions of the movie from the Amazon link on IMDB page.

I’d really like this Should Do to be done. Any updated from RobotCoop (even to say: “What you are saying is not feasible”)?

Should do this

I agree with this, but the problem is that the sole investor of 43things (and thereby allconsuming and everything else) is Amazon. I’m really sad that they probably won’t do anything about this because of their corporate interests.
