Google should fix the search functionality of Knol

Google Knol is a quite fine service but the randomness of the integration of knols into findable search items by the search function on the site should be explained and corrected.

My knol on microblogs still can’t be found, nontheless it’s published and publicly consultable at http://knol.google.com/k/pieter-jansegers/microblogs/1m1bmti438m47/2# .

Many other ‘knollers’ are experiencing the same problems and are talking about them on the help pages of Knol and the net in general.

Dukudu.de should open up to non-German speaking countries

(I’m from Belgium)

I don’t want dukudu.de to die…

I had an account over here and I posted regularly, mainly in English, that’s true.

Apparently, not being of a German-centered country, my account was removed.

Ok by me, though I found it a real pitty…

Especially since dukudu.de is the only microblog outside China that is indexed in the Chinese search engine baidu.com.

[Apart from Taiwanese microblog, but China doesn’t consider this to be a country…]

Even Twitter, Jaiku, Pownce, Tumblr, Khaces, Meemi, Gozub, Beemood, Niimo, Numpa.nl, Smspr.ru, etc. aren’t indexed by this Chinese Giant !

ONLY DUKUDU.DE IS !

Just at the moment microblogs are finding they’re way to marketing (that’s where the money is…), Dukudu.de is dying

It would be a real pitty to have a microblog service in a unique possession, way ahead of all the competition that dies because it isn’t used anymore.

Please open up to people from all over the world, limiting eventually foreign language posting to 10 a day per person.

IM services should provide an availability scale functionality

Sometimes you just would like to be available to a very close network of dear friends and not to the all bunch of your social connections.

I believe it’s about time an IM, a chat or a microblog comes up with scalable availability.

That way we can be available for the innergroup but not to the outergroup.

I’m going to suggest this function to some of the microblogs now in alpha or in private beta – they might still listen to me.

I call this idea the ‘innercircle functionality’.

Ning.com should make it possible to integrate vid as easy as img

It’s a pitty that you can’t just integrate video’s in a blog or forum article on ning.com as you can do it with an image.

There is no reason to make a difference in treating these to objects from a consumer point of view.

shoulddothis.com should make it possible to edit idea titles 1 cheer

[I can’t correct the title and can’t suppress this idea without the title remaining, so I have an shoulddothis.com for shoulddothis.com]

is the way I did use to the larger public to justify that “bigthink.com should provide an newsletter archive” remained available after the attempt to make it disappear and put up a “bigthink.com should provide a newsletter archive” idea

apparently one can’t suppress the idea itself completely nor correct the title (which would have been the easier thing to do).

bigthink.com should provide an newsletter archive

I wanted to quote the newsletter I’ve received earlier today on my tumblr.com and make a link to the newsletter online.

I would have put this text at http://jansegers.tumblr.com :

MIT economist Dan Ariely studies the other side of economics, irrational decision making, and it’s taught him a thing or two about the tenacity of preconception. He ran a little experiment. Two cups of beer: one regular, one spiked with balsamic vinegar. In one trial run, he called the latter “MIT Brew” and, asked which was their favorite, the majority chugged the latter. On the second run, he said, “here’s beer, and here’s beer with balsamic vinegar.” Not surprisingly, his test subjects stuck with the unadulterated beer. What does that mean?

“What’s happening here is when you expect something to be terrible, your mouth is actually tasting it as terrible. Again our expectation changes our physiology [...]”

so far, no problem; but apparently I can’t find the newsletter in an online version at the site, so I can’t refer to it.

And on the profile, this text isn’t findable neither …

http://www.bigthink.com/user/dan-ariely seems extremely interesting, but doesn’t help me as a reference for the above quotation.

A real pitty… don’t you think ?

meebo.com should integrate the QQ service

http://www.meebo.com/

I really like Meebo and that’s way I find it important that the Chinese QQ should be integrated in their IM service.

It’s the only widely used IM they haven’t integrated yet.

The Wizz Kid TV format should be used worldwide

Because it is based on the key competence of the XXI century: collecting information and presenting it interactively.

It’s based on this simple idea:

“Give people 30 minutes to set up a website about a subject. “
