43 Things should have a thing up by the user's name on their home account showing them how much time they spend logged into 43 Things

Why? Because some people do waste time on the internet instead of accomplishing their goals (talking instead of doing), and it serves as a friendly reminder! Also, for project management purposes, some may want a little extra help in tracking their time.

43 Things should allow users to export a list of their goals and entries written so that each user can backup this information

I would really love to get the following downloads:

  • an Excel or XML spreadsheet or text file of the complete list of Active goals, Removed goals, Completed goals, and Failed goals.

I would like to have a simple options of Goal, Date started, Date completed/removed/failed, Date restarted, etc. I can then use this in my Omni, as I already do cut and past from the website.

Then I would like to have the following download in Excel, XML, or delimited text:

  • Individual Goals, complete or by tick-box. Tick box should be available for those who want to target special goals, but it is tedious for those of us who have 100+ goals; I would rather filter out many from a Complete download.

column 1: goal name (Add date, if you have the above list, is irrelevant, esp. as the entries themselves are dated)
column 2: entry date and time (probably n/a for the Removed goals)
column 3: entry name (ditto)
column 4: entry body (ditto)
column 5: goal success/fail/remove and date e.g. “succeeded on Jan. 31, 2008”
column 6 (optional tick box): keywords
column 7: goal URL or entry URL (then if I see something I might want to edit/remove on my public profile, I can do so more easily…)
column 8: anything powerful that the developers might know about that I don’t
column 9 (optional tick box): Number of Comments (Knowing that nesting of comments would make this a nasty download, I think the user should simply go to the entry URL so they can get what they look for.
the reason why is so that in the big files I generate I can sort according to what and when I worked on or succeeded on something.

Essentially, I want a power diary on my own computer from what work I have done on 43Things. Then not only do I have it fully available, I can see where I did well and repeat it. Also, a “someday/maybe” list for those I started and didn’t finish.
