43 Things should not make a distinction between "I want to do this" and "I am doing this" 1 cheer

Good Lord, think of all the clutter!

I used to have goals that I wanted to want to do. Start running, for example. I don’t really want to run, I just want to be the sort of person that does run. Maybe someday in the future I will be, but not now.

So here’s what I did. I gave up on the goal and then added a “someday” tag to it.

I don’t think 43 Things is a place to keep track of passive goals. You should focus on what you really want and chart your progress toward achieving it while being cheered on by others. What’s the point of being cheered on a goal you’re not working on?

43 Things has done have an 'i no longer want to do this' option

There’s an “I give up” button, or you can remove it completely from your list, entries and all.

Lists Of Bests should allow definitive lists to be locked once they're complete 1 cheer

Okay, this is something that’s been driving me nuts for a while…

On Lists of Bests, I made a list of Hitchcock’s films. The Mountain Eagle has been lost for decades, but I included it in my version. People – well, mostly just one person, actually – keep deleting it from the list even though I’ve asked them not to.

There’s another list that doesn’t include it, and I’ve even linked to that one on my list, hoping people who are going for completion will add it instead, but no such luck.

It would be great if I could “lock” the list, so no one could make any more changes.

Obviously this wouldn’t work for things like Best Picture winners, but given that Hitch is dead, I don’t think there’s any danger of the list needing updating.

43 Things should fix personal challenge so that when you give up a personal challenge, you can still add it back to your list with out it becoming a personal challenge again. Doing this even takes over the current personal challenge

Also, when you give up on a challenge and then decide to resume it, it starts over with your original completion date.

When I tried to stop talking to my ex for 60 days, I gave up, and when I challenged myself, I had something like 30 days to complete the 60-day goal in. haha

Also, I think you should have it time-zone specific. It still says I failed a challenge that I accomplished because I marked it as done what I’m guessing was too late compared to someone else’s time zone.
