Blogs should stop reporting Yanko Design's as news

Don’t get me wrong, Yanko Design is a great website for inspiration but that’s exactly what it is. Yanko Design is like going to a design portfolio website for design students and shouldn’t be considered news worthy. I say this because if I wanted that kind of trend or gadget news I’d add those websites to my news reader, no need to beat a dead horse people. Stop clogging up my news reader with redundant news.

Time Warner should merge AOL with Yahoo and spin-off cable

Time Warner is already getting rid of the cable business but until it’s a finished job with a new name I’m not confident in the deal.

43 Things should do something about the "people subscribed to you" feature 1 cheer

Surely it’s good to know who is subscribed to your account.

I think it’s a very personal thing that someone has subscribed to me. I don’t mind of course, but I’d prefer to know who they are.

Of course all my entries are public, but for someone to read EVERYTHING I say or do feels a bit intrusive without knowing who they are.

Users that aren’t subscribed only read some of my posts based on context and location, i.e. they might read a post related to a to-do item they happen to come across.

But users that are subscribed to me, are interested in seeing everything I have to say (not sure why lol), and this seems intrusive if I don’t know who they are.

Common Craft should make a video explaining how solar power works

I love your videos. I am trying to explain how solar power works in lay persons terms and thought it would be a good subject for you!

everyone should use critical thinking and a healthy dose of skepticism 1 cheer

@Sing Song:

Goedel’s theorems prove no such thing. They imply that there can be truths which cannot be known/proven (things cannot be said to be known without proof), but the proofs are dependent on present formulations of set theory, which may or may not be accurate.

people should not recycle

Apparently recycling produces more carbon waste (thereby accelerating global warming) than is worthwhile, and aluminum is the only exception.

people should should go vegan

Apparently the grain fed to cattle raised for slaughter is enough to eliminate starvation.

people should not respect different beliefs and values

Respect people’s right to believe and value what they want, yes… but respecting a belief itself is another matter. If someone believes the Earth is flat, or the moon doesn’t exist or some other absurdity, one doesn’t respect that belief.

google reader has done let me "subscribe" to one entry of a blog I stumble on, for later reading

You can find and view the feed in GReader without subscribing to it, and then star and/or share it.

google reader has done generate RSS for search results

http://www.google.com/alerts

Gmail has done allow opening in new tabs

If you want to open a link in a new tab, use middle click (the scroll wheel button), or CTRL+click.

Google has done allow me to use google.com instead of google.ie

I believe if you go back to google.com again, it doesn’t reforward you. Regardless though, if you use Firefox (and you should), you can add quicksearches for whatever you want, and search from the address bar.

Google has done don't be evil

They’ve done a good job so far.

Google has done turn Google Accounts into OpenID-s

They basically aready have, via your Blogger URL.

Google should support logins via OpenID

They’re already an OpenID provider via Blogger.

Deviantart should tell us by e-mail when we receive comments

I thought for sure there’d be an option/setting for this, but I looked and didn’t find one…

Common Craft has done common craft should provide a text version of the videos so your deaf readers can use them too

I have been a long time user of your site so know how informative your videos probably are. As a deaf person i need to read a text version or captions along with the video.

Common Craft should pLEASE suggest a way to do a eMagazine or online brochure for nonprofits

There are a BUNCH of people who have hosting and online services for eMagazines for online format and viewing, but a quick and easy way to make weekly or monthly or even static content in a ezine format would be a big help. Something that has page turning and looks like a magazine, but that you do not have to pay someone a monthly fee for and you can do yourself. Maybe a “Ways to do an online magazine or newsletter” ?

It may be out there….but the common searches have not given it to me yet! THANKS

facebook has done remove the "is" from status updates

It’s been gone for some time now.

Google has done add transit information for Vancouver, B.C

I was in Vancouver in January and used Google Transit – it was great. Vancouver is one of three Canadians cities that have offered their data to Google for these purposes.
